Cancer Nonprofit Stands With DWTS' Hayley Erbert and Derek Hough in Time of Need

But a special one came in fromRunway to Hope, a non-profit that raises money for families facing the heartbreaking journey of pediatric cancer. "Runway to Hope fosters collaborative efforts among corporations, local businesses, and philanthropists to not only raise funds and awareness, but also bring new programs and initiatives to the pediatric cancer community, all while providing direct support and aid primarily to Central Florida children and their families impacted through the Family Assistance Program,"the website explains. So when Runway to Hope saw Erbert's emotional plea about her stepfather,the organization made a post that reads, "Last week @derekhough stood alongside our families. Today, we do the same. Sending healing thoughts and prayers." Erbert's post was particularly poignant after what she went through in late 2023 when she experienced a cranial hematoma and had to have an emergency craniectomy. "We're so thankful to the doctors and nurses who saved her life, our family and friends, and to all the people whose love and support poured in during this time. Your care has been such a huge part of her recovery. "Last night was just the beginning of sharing our story, and we can't wait to take you along on the rest of this journey. Getty A woman shared on Reddit that she and her roommate are childhood friends but have very different opinions when it comes to what to share on social media After noticing that her friend was showing off the woman's bedroom and other personal items online, she confronted her and got her roommate to say she'd stop However, when the woman found out that wasn't the case, she "completely lost it" and took matters into her own hands A woman says she took drastic measures to ensure her social media-obsessed roommate was no longer able to post about her private life without her consent. In aposton Reddit's popular "Am I the A------" forum, the 24-year-old woman wrote that she had been living with her "childhood best friend" for 3 years — and everything was fine up until recently. The woman prefaced the story by saying that her friend, 25, is "super into social media" and she "posts literally everything about her life online — what she eats, where she goes, who she hangs with, everything." The Redditor said she took a different approach to social media and was more private. Still, her roommate's social media usage didn't bother her until her friend started "posting tons of pics and videos of our apartment," without asking. She even said that mutual friends started commenting about how the woman's "book collection and some personal items [were] visible in the background" of the posts. So, the woman said that she asked her friend to stop — and thought they'd reached an agreement. Things calmed down for a while, but then the Redditor found a video that was particularly invasive. "Yesterday, I was scrolling through TikTok and found she'd posted a 'day in our life' video showing my bedroom AGAIN, my medication on the counter (I have anxiety), and even me sleeping on the couch (I didn't know she filmed me)," the woman wrote. "I completely lost it. While she was at work, I changed our WiFi password, removed her devices from our account, and told her I wouldn't give her the new password until she deleted ALL videos with my personal stuff in them," the woman added. When her roommate came home she started "freaking out" and said it wasn't fair to "just cut her off from utilities we both pay for." Since then, the woman said that her friend has been staying at her mom's place — and "telling everyone" that the Redditor was "a psycho who's jealous of her social media success." "I don't think I'm asking for much - just basic privacy in my own home?," the woman wrote. "But maybe changing the WiFi password was too extreme? Our mutual friends are split - some think I'm justified, others think I went nuclear over something small." Several people sided with the woman in the comments section and agreed that she shouldn't be recorded without her consent. Some noted that it could be illegal to "record or video tape someone in their private property without their permission" depending on where they live, while another commenter wrote that the videos represented "a major security risk." "It's bad enough that she's got no filter on what information she puts online about herself when she and OP live in the same space, but she's majorly crossed a line by putting OP's space and things up for anyone to see," the commenter wrote. Added another, "Normally I'd say you're in the wrong for cutting her off from utilities she pays for, but she has massively and repeatedly crossed the line. I'd be looking for a new roommate." Paul Reubens delivered a series of revelations for the new documentary, candidly discussing everything from his sexuality to the arrests he described as "giant footnotes" in his life. "I wanted somehow for people to understand that my whole career, everything I did and wrote, was based in love," Reubens said the day before his death on July 30, 2023. In the new two-part HBO docuseriesPee-wee as Himself,Paul Reubensshares his final words with the world — delivering a series of bombshell revelations along the way. Best known for his iconic alter ego, Pee-wee Herman, Reubens sat for more than 40 hours of one-on-one interviews, candidly discussing everything from his sexuality to the arrests he described as "giant footnotes" in his life — and the unexpected way he chose to say goodbye. Here are some of the most shocking and poignant moments to expect from the documentary. HBO Although Reubens never publicly came out during his lifetime, director Matt Wolf says it was something the comedian always intended to do. "It was a decision he had made but one he was very ambivalent and anxious about," Wolf tells PEOPLE in this week's issue. "He was very concerned about having his sexuality be a defining factor of who he was." For the documentary, Reubens reflected on a "long-term, very serious" relationship with a man named Guy shortly after college. They lived together, shared a cat and, according to Reubens, the relationship inspired much of his comedy. "I looked across the room and saw someone and fell in love instantly," he recalled. "I just went, 'That's him. That's the guy.' " Ultimately, Reubens prioritized his career and moved forward hiding his sexuality and forgoing all future relationships. "I was as out as you can be, and then I went back in the closet," he said. "My career absolutely would have suffered if I was openly gay. So I went to great lengths for many, many years to keep it a secret." HBO/Pee-wee Herman Productions, Inc. During his time at the California Institute of the Arts, Reubens began exploring alternative forms of creativity. "It was just this little safe community of people," he recalled. "Everyone was seeming to figure out 'Who am I as an artist?' " For Reubens, performance art was what resonated. "Sitting in the dorm at 2 a.m. in drag, just hanging out — you might think that I was a drag queen. And you could be right," he said. "Doing drag and 'passing' — I can draw a line from that to having an alter ego and being successful in having that character 'pass' as a real person." "If I was conflicted about sexuality… fame was so much more complicated," Reubens reflected in the documentary. He added that his 1991 arrest for indecent exposure in an adult theater in Sarasota, Fla., became a "major footnote" in his life. "It really backfired when I got arrested, and people had never seen a photo of me other than [as] Pee-wee Herman, and then all of a sudden I had a Charlie Manson mug shot," he said. "It's shocking what hideous, horrible, mean stuff people say and think about me." Years later, police raided his home and seized his collection of vintage homoerotic art, including materials they categorized as child pornography. "When he would discuss his [2002] arrest with me, he said the overwhelming feeling was shock," Wolf recalls. "From my point of view, it was incredibly unjust. So it was easy for me to lay it all out clearly so that people could collectively recognize he had been mistreated." Kypros/Getty Despite the depth of their conversations, Wolf says he had "no reason to believe that Reubens was contemplating his mortality." In reality, Reubens had been quietly battling lung cancer for six years, confiding only in a small circle of close friends. "It was incredibly shocking," Wolf says of Reubens's death, which occurred just one week before they were scheduled to record a final interview. "I found out that Paul died on Instagram along with everybody else." Shortly after his passing, Reubens's assistant shared with Wolf a private recording he had made the day before he died — his final message to the world. "More than anything, the reason I wanted to make a documentary was to let people see who I really am and how painful and difficult it was to be labeled something that I wasn't . . . a pedophile," he said. "I wanted somehow for people to understand that my whole career, everything I did and wrote, was based in love." During one of their interviews, Reubens told Wolf, "Death is just so final.
