There Were Elements of Me That Were Afraid'

Ryan Phillippe admitted in a new interview withPeople magazinethat part of him was "afraid" to accept the role of Billy Douglas on the daytime soap opera "One Life to Live" in the early 1990s. The character was the first gay teenager in daytime television history. Phillippe played Billy for a year on the show and said it was a "really profound experience." "I was so young that there were elements of me that were afraid because it was such a different time," Phillippe said, adding that people close to him also advised him to turn down the role and discouraged him from accepting the part. "But I know that any fears that anyone had about me doing it immediately went away once I saw the reaction that it got from the people who viewed it." The actor said that the feedback from "One Life to Live" viewers about his role as Billy was "almost instantaneous," as fan mail started pouring in. He remembers hearing from fans who had "never seen someone represent me in any entertainment before in my life." Phillippe would also get mail from parents saying: "Watching this show on my lunch break gave me a way to connect with my LGBTQ child." "As that job progressed, I realized how important it was to some people," the actor said. "And I was only 17 years old, so you don't really have a sense of that. It was such a different time, but I very much matured through having had that experience and seeing the impact that it had for others." Monty Brinton/CBS via Getty David Lim reflected on what his time onS.W.A.T.means to him following the show's cancellation. The actor also shared how he feels about the spinoffEXILESbeing announced so quickly and excluding the full cast, except for Shemar Moore. Lim played Victor Tan for all eight seasons of the CBS series. S.W.A.T.alum David Lim is full of feelings about the show's back-to-backcancellationandspinoff announcement. Lim, who played Victor Tan on all eight seasons of the CBS series, took toInstagramon Wednesday, May 28, to reflect on his time onS.W.A.T., saying, "Being a part ofS.W.A.T.for the past 8 seasons has been one of the great honors of my life." "I poured my heart into playing Tan — and even more than that, into the team and friendships we built on and off screen," he said. Lim explained that what made the show special "wasn't just the action, or one character," but rather the "bond" between the cast and "the shared blood, sweat, tears and laughs we gave to every episode." He praised the cast's "effortless chemistry" from the pilot all the way through to the end. Bill Inoshita/Sony Pictures Television/CBS "I'm proud of how we fought for a ninth season," he said of the show, which was canceled three times. "We believed we still had more to give, more stories to tell." "It wasn't in the cards for all of us — and that's okay," he added. "We had a magical run and went out on a high note with those final two episodes." Lim then turned his attention to the spinoff,S.W.A.T. EXILES, which was announced mere days followingthe series finale. The only confirmed returning cast member fromS.W.A.T.was revealed to beShemar Moore's Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson. "I'd be lying if I said the rollout of the new spinoff didn't sting," he said. "It was tough to see it announced just two days after our finale — with no mention of the cast who helped buildS.W.A.T.from day one." Lim said this turn of events "felt like we were brushed aside when there could've been a moment of reflection and recognition — for the people who built this show, and for the impact it had on so many." "I may not know what the future holds for Tan, but I couldn't be more proud of what we created together — our cast, writers, producers, crew… ourS.W.A.T.family," he added. "No version of this story can take that away." Sharing the post to his Instagram Stories, Lim wrote, "Closing the chapter. Grateful for the ride. 🖤." Last week, Sony Pictures TV President Katherine Pope toldVarietythat fans couldexpect some "favorites" fromS.W.A.T.to pop up onEXILES. "For sure," Pope said, noting the shows now exist in their own "universe." "There is a clear world that we're exploring here," Pope said. "We're still putting it all together, but for sure, I think you can expect some of your favorites to be a part of it in some way." Victoria Beckham Left Son Brooklyn's Bride Nicola Peltz 'in Tears' at Their Wedding After 'Ruining' First Dance (Exclusive)New Foto - Victoria Beckham Left Son Brooklyn's Bride Nicola Peltz 'in Tears' at Their Wedding After 'Ruining' First Dance (Exclusive)

There's currently no love lost betweenBrooklyn Beckham, 26, and his parents,DavidandVictoria Beckham, a source close to the Peltz family tells PEOPLE, just days after Brooklyn posted a cryptic message on Instagram stating that he'd"always choose"his wife. The source says tensions between the couple finally came to a head after Victoria, 51, allegedly hijacked the first dance atBrooklyn's 2022 Palm Beach wedding to actress Nicola Peltz, 30 — even though the couple had been planning on dancing to the song together. "Marc Anthony, who is a friend of the Beckhams, offered to perform as a gift at the wedding," the source explains. "Before the song began, Marc Anthony asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, 'The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up...Victoria Beckham!'" The source claims that the new bride allegedly "felt that Victoria ruined her wedding, and couldn't understand why." Reps for Victoria and David Beckham and Anthony did not return PEOPLE's request for comment. A second insider adds that the entire room was so shocked that Anthony called Victoria's name over Nicola's that a complete silence followed. "It was such a jaw-dropping moment that it left the whole room in absolute shock — you could hear a pin drop," the second source adds. Darren Gerrish/WireImage Guests were allegedly even more surprised when Victoria began slow dancing with her son. "It wasn't appropriate," the source says of the moment, adding that everyone then saw "Nicola run from the room crying." "Nicola felt like Victoria did this on purpose, when she knew it was a pre-planned romantic dance meant for Brooklyn and Nicola. What she couldn't understand waswhy." Pascal Le Segretain/Getty; Gareth Cattermole/Getty Another insider familiar with the matter says the dance debacle has been part of a pattern of an ongoing rift, claiming that Brooklyn and Nicola have been trying their best to remain on friendly terms with the duo. "They've tried to make peace, but every time they finally have a happy moment, it all falls apart again," the insider says. The insider adds, "Brooklyn feels torn. It's his family and blood, but he's always had a complicated relationship with his dad. A lot of their relationship has felt like 'business.'" Karwai Tang/WireImage Brooklyn and Nicola, who live in Los Angeles, were absent fromDavid's early 50th birthday celebrationsin March, but a source told PEOPLE that they were invited despite "tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and the family." "The relationship is definitely not beyond repair," an insider told PEOPLE in early May. "They love and are always there for [Brooklyn]. They're just hurt and disappointed that he's now playing no part in family life." Peltz and Beckham have reportedly found support from Peltz's family. In 2024, theBates Motelactress, who grew up in New York and Florida, talked to Byrdieabout how close she was to her mom and dad and seven siblings. "Family is everything to me, and I mean that with my whole heart," she told the outlet. "I go to Florida any chance I get, and we stay at my parents' house. It honestly makes me so happy to wake up and have my siblings around. It's really hard to get us all in the same place because there are so many of us. When we're all together, it's so fun."
